After the lights go down on the plays upstairs, join us in the Royal Court Café Bar for a series of FREE late night events guaranteed to keep you in the festival mood. Plus, every Friday night throughout the festival, there will be dj-ing in the Cafe Bar.

Music in the Bar Fri 16 Mar, 10.15pm
The first After Dark event in the Young Writers Festival will transform the Cafe Bar into an intimate music venue. With two live music acts followed by a DJ – we’re sure you won’t want to miss out. In fact with beers and bar food served all night we think you won’t even want to leave!

Expect the unexpected with our first live music act of the evening, with expansive lyrics on a backdrop of gritty guitars, soulful sax and jazz-beat percussion, these guys like to walk their own way.

Headline act Kyla La Grange will take to the stage and be sure to have you wanting more.

12.30 DJ JazzHead Chronic
‘Jazzheadchronic’ DJ Mickey Smith will round off, playing us into the early hours of the morning with the sounds of motown, and oldskool funk.

Spoken Word Night Wed 28 Mar, 10.15pm
Whether you’re a fan or brand new to the spoken word scene, this is a night not to be missed. Line up includes legendary artists Inua Ellams, “Polarbear“: www.homeofpolar.com:new-window and Kate Tempest.

The Literary Ball Sat 14 Apr, 10.15pm
In association with La Cooperative D’Ecriture
As the festival draws to a close, join us for a party with a literary twist. French writer Nathalie Fillion joins the YWF playwrights to tell a story with songs, songs we know and love, songs we can all dance to. Be dazzled, delighted and dance until the early hours.

The Literary Ball is a ticketed event. Advance tickets have sold out but further places will be available direct from the Box Office on the day and night of the event.
