To celebrate our 50th birthday, and in partnership with the BBC writers-room project, the Royal Court Theatre asked 50 British theatres and theatre companies each to nominate an emerging writer. Thus taking the temperature of the nation by asking the chosen playwrights from all over the UK to write about what makes them angry in the form of new short plays presented as rehearsed readings. The outcome was Angry Now, where writers were invited to submit a 5-minute play about what makes them angry. Of the plays submitted, 12 were performed as rehearsed readings in front of an audience on Friday 12 May in the Jerwood Theatre at the Royal Court. The playwrights involved are: Tim Price, Kofi Agyemang, Francesca Beard, Rachel Barnett, Ed Hime, Declan Feenan, Samreen Masood, James Graham, D C Jackson, Sam Holcroft, Tom Morton-Smith and Ian Kershaw.
