Location: The Royal Court Theatre, London
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £661.87 (gross) per week. (SOLT/BECTU grading 3)
The Royal Court Theatre is looking to recruit a Lighting Technician to work on all aspects of lighting.
Working within a department of four, the Lighting Technician will assist the Head of Lighting and Deputy Head of Lighting on various aspects of lighting for productions in both theatre spaces at the Royal Court, throughout the building and with projects in other locations. The Lighting Department is one of four Production departments at the Royal Court – the others are Stage, Sound and Costume.
The successful candidate will be:
- Experienced in Theatre Lighting: Having a solid background in operating ETC lighting consoles and previous theatre experience, with knowledge of electrical maintenance and PAT testing.
- Proficient in Collaboration: Skilled at working with lighting designers and creative teams, and capable of assisting with the supervision of casual staff while liaising with visiting companies.
- An Adaptable Problem Solver: Able to respond to challenges creatively and calmly, maintaining a flexible approach and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Detail-Oriented and Organized: Demonstrating excellent time management skills to handle production fit-ups, maintenance tasks, and the ability to read and interpret lighting plans effectively.
- Committed to Inclusivity and Safety: Actively supporting a respectful and inclusive work culture, with a strong awareness of health and safety procedures and a dedication to anti-racism and anti-oppression initiatives.
